3rd Annual West Orange Eco-Energy Fair
West Orange Eco-Energy Fair to Bring ‘Green’ Community Together
Sunday, May 16th
12pm to 4pm
Liberty Middle School
The green event will highlight the innovative steps West Orange is taking to expand its environmental and energy initiatives, and provides a place for members of the community to learn more about the green revolution.
The Fair will feature environmental workshops and information on green education and conservation practices. There will also be demonstrations by green vendors using the newest green products available in the marketplace.
New to the Fair this year, Confidential Shredding will be on-site to provide free shredding services to West Orange residents. The community is welcome to use this free service to destroy personal and confidential documents in a secure, professional manner. A full list of documents acceptable for shredding can be found on the West Orange Environmental Commission (WOEC) page.
Additionally, the West Orange Rotary Club will be colleting used bicycles for Pedals for Progress (P4P), a non-profit organization that helps people get to work using recycled bicycles as a source of basic transportation, a source of trade, and a means for employment and enterprise. P4P has received, processed and donated over 115,000 bicycles, 1,000 used sewing machines and $10.8 million in new spare parts to partner charities in 32 developing world countries.
Sponsored by the West Orange Energy Commission (WOEC), the Eco-Energy Fair will feature new, state-of-the-art public space recycling bins that will be artistically designed by West Orange schoolchildren. The containers are part of the Township’s ongoing program, ‘The Art of Recycling,’ initiated by Mayor McKeon.
The Fair is just one of the many ways the Township provides environmental awareness moving toward becoming a certified sustainable community.
