Hazel Avenue School Plant Sale!

The Hazel Avenue School PTA is hosting their first Mother’s Day Plant Sale Event.
Saturday, May 7th
9:00 – 12:00PM.
Geraniums, Impatiens, Petunias, Hibiscus, ferns, veggies and more! Refreshments will be available. All proceeds benefit the Green Thumb Committee’s efforts to maintain the Rainbow Garden and provide curriculum materials.

Remember the three L’s of Crime Prevention: LIGHTS, LOCKS and the LAW. Light up your residence; Lock your doors at all times; and call the Law when you see something suspicious: West Orange Police Department (973) 325-4000 or 911 for emergencies. The most important thing you can do is call the police to report a crime or any suspicious activity. You have to be the eyes of your neighborhood. And, remember, you always can remain a pair of anonymous eyes.

Colgate Futsal Court Re-Opening

The Colgate Futsal court has been renovated with a new layout, new goals and a new surface. There will be a grand re-opening celebration hosted by Mayor Parisi with door prizes and free refreshments.

The format for the evening will be:
- Moderator will briefly introduce the candidates.
- Candidates will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves.
- The moderator will present 5 questions (in random order) to all the candidates. Questions will be provided by residents.
- At the end of the 5 questions, candidates will present closing comments.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Kick-Off

Thursday, October 6, 2010 at 9am
West Orange Municipal Building
To kick off the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the township of West Orange, along with the North Jersey Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, will tie 8-foot long ribbons on the municipal building on Main Street.
Breast cancer survivor and Valley resident, Laura Sullivan will help Parisi tie the ribbons in a ceremony Thursday at 9 a.m. on the steps of the township’s municipal building.
The Tie a Ribbon™ campaign, held every October in recognition of breast cancer awareness month, was developed to raise awareness and spread the life-saving message of early detection. Ribbons are available (for a suggested donation of $5.00) at:

Special Town Council Election, November 2
West Orange will hold a special election on Tuesday, November 2 for one council member-at-large.
