The Hazel Avenue School PTA is hosting their first Mother’s Day Plant Sale Event.
Saturday, May 7th
9:00 – 12:00PM.
Geraniums, Impatiens, Petunias, Hibiscus, ferns, veggies and more! Refreshments will be available. All proceeds benefit the Green Thumb Committee’s efforts to maintain the Rainbow Garden and provide curriculum materials.

Arrest Made in Connection to Home Burglaries
According to news sources, Dawshawn Porter, 19, of Orange, was taken into custody by West Orange police. He is thought to be connected to at least three overnight home burglaries in the Gregory and Valley neighborhoods.
Porter is charged with burglary and theft related to three burglaries that occurred since the beginning of January this year.
He also is charged with three burglaries in South Orange, according to South Orange police. Property (including cameras and laptops) was recovered from recent burglaries. The investigation is continuing. Porter is in Essex County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Robbery Suspects: UPDATE
This is an update to the Jan 21 story, “WOPD Seeks Public Help in Catching Robbery Suspects”

According to the West Orange Patch, the WOPD have arrested James Battle, 19, of West Orange, and Vincent Augustus Rochester, 19, of West Orange in connection with two Jan. 11 armed robberies on Cherry Street as well as an armed robbery Jan. 14 on Samuel Street. They are charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property. According to the police, the two had a loaded handgun when arrested. The article states, “They were apprehended with the help of the public, according to Jessica Glicker, the township’s public information officer.” Both Battle and Rochester are in Essex County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail each.
