The Hazel School Fall Carnival is a fun, welcome back event for students, families and friends. It is also one of the main fund raisers for the school PTA. Games, rides, face painting, food and back by popular demand, the dunk tank!
This year’s list of dunkees includes: Mayor Parisi, Assemblyman John McKeon, Councilman Sal Anderton and Councilman Joe Krakoviak among others.

The format for the evening will be:
- Moderator will briefly introduce the candidates.
- Candidates will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves.
- The moderator will present 5 questions (in random order) to all the candidates. Questions will be provided by residents.
- At the end of the 5 questions, candidates will present closing comments.

Special Town Council Election, November 2
West Orange will hold a special election on Tuesday, November 2 for one council member-at-large.
Anyone interested in running for office should contact the Office of the Essex County Clerk at 973-621-4923 ext. 227.

Joint BOE & Township Council Meeting
A joint meeting of the West Orange Board of Education and the West Orange Township Council will be held to discuss the failed school budget.

If necessary the joint meeting will be continued on May 18 and May 19 also at 6:30 at the High School.

School Budget Meetings
As you are probably aware, the 2010-2011 Board of Education Budget was defeated in the town-wide vote last Tuesday. It is now the responsibility of the Town Council to review the Budget line by line to determine any cuts they believe should be made.
The West Orange Town Council will be hearing public comment on the 2010-2011 School Budget. The meeting will begin with a Conference Agenda Session where the Budget Review Consultant will be approved and then introduced to explain the defeated school board budget and the timeline. It is important that the Council hears your voice. A final tax levy is due by May 19.
